Creating A Model Portfolio
Holly came to me wanting to create a portfolio of looks for her modeling and acting career. She is new to the industry and wanted to start off on the right foot with some competitive images. We decided to shoot a few looks in the studio and then go on-location to add environmental texture to the other looks.
The photoshoot always starts off with professional hair and makeup, this is an integral part of the process. I find my clients enjoy the experience more and the images come out looking much more polished and professional. Our stylist for the day was Dora Vera, who regularly gets my clients camera ready. Then once we started shooting it was pretty clear that Holly is a natural in front of the camera and took direction well. The shoot lasted most of the day and by the end were exhausted but captured a variety of killer looks that’ll set Holly apart as a model and actor.
Downtown Studio Photos
I love capturing headshots in-studio. My favorite setups utilize the abundant window light in the studio and manipulating it with reflectors and flags. All images below were taken with natural light.
Shooting on-location can be a challenge but the weather was quite cloudy and the thick cover diffused and softened the sunlight. This enabled me to capture the images below again with all natural light. I brought a strobe with me but ended liking the images without it better.
We shot the image below at the rooftop pool at Dora’s apartment complex. The image after was shot at the park right across the street from the apartment complex.
