Downtown Studio Headshots

My oh my, do I love headshots. I love how the landscape of headshot and branding images is changing. The prerequisite stuffy, traditional shots are no longer the norm! Nowadays, to stand out, the first step is having imagery that represents you at your best and captures your audience’s attention! It was my pleasure to capture downtown studio headshots for Jeff, a personal injury attorney in San Antonio, TX. Jeff is from the Pacific Northwest and moved to San Antonio from Seattle. He’s a jokester with a warm, empathetic heart.

It was important to capture that he is a great listener and easy to get along with but also an expert in his field and will get the job done. This is a common request from my clients. Most clients need a complex combination of energies and looks from their images. They want to be polished and professional, but not standoffish. They want to convey warmth and friendliness, but not look too casual. I think we definitely capture balance Jeff was after in his portfolio of images.

I photographed Jeff in all natural light at my downtown studio. Jeff wanted his gallery of images to have variety, so that way he wasn’t using the same shot for his social media profiles, websites, business card, etc. I like to capture both classic headshots on a solid background to allow all the focus to be on my client plus environmental portraits to allow for some visual texture. I do this by shooting off my backgrounds, allowing props and other items around the studio in my shot. Sometimes I even combine multiple backgrounds to get interesting bokeh and make my shots more dynamic. I like to play around, all shoots are an exploration process!
